Parking Policy Survey Results

The Municipality of Voorschoten held a survey in December 2023 to gather the opinions and ideas of residents regarding parking. Nearly 1,000 residents responded to the survey. This has contributed to a valuable insight into the views and needs in our village.

Alderman Schokker, Traffic Portfolio: “We are grateful for our residents’ active participation in the survey. Their input is essential for developing a parking policy that meets the needs of our village.”

How are we going to park?

Participants generally indicate that no parking problem is experienced in the outlying areas. Conversely, residents in areas such as the Bloemenwijk largely experience challenges. When asked which form of parking best suits Voorschoten, the majority preferred free parking and/or a blue zone. In a few neighborhoods where parking pressure is high, some participants are open to discussing a form of parking regulation. Nearly 70% of the survey participants believe that additional or new parking spaces should not come at the expense of public green spaces.

Drafting parking policy

“On Wednesday, January 31, we held a productive session with the ‘ municipal council,’ during which we presented and discussed the results of the survey,” said Alderman Schokker. “With the valuable input from both municipal council and residents, we are hard at work drafting a new parking policy. We aim to present and adopt this policy at the ‘ municipal council ’ on July 4, 2024.”
