High Turnout at the Kruispuntkerk Development Open House
On Tuesday evening, June 11, 2024, an open house was held for residents of Voorschoten at the Kruispuntkerk. The current Kruispuntkerk will be transformed into a cultural center, with an adjacent residential building featuring (affordable) rental units. Through social and cultural activities and a space for people to gather, we hope to turn the Kruispuntkerk into a vibrant venue.
About 150 residents stopped by to get more information and provide feedback on the preliminary design drawings.
- “Great—let’s keep moving forward and make some decisions.”
- “A heated dance floor?”
- “The church’s design is very beautiful.”
- “Great plan and design. Kudos!”
- “What a great plan. I sincerely hope it goes ahead as proposed.”
- “Make sure there’s a good program. Especially for the young residents of Voorschoten.”
- The apartment complex is too tall. It was a missed opportunity not to include Aldi in the redevelopment.
- As long as the tree and the little square stay!
A progress meeting with the city council will be held in October. After that, we will once again involve residents. A decision on the project’s implementation will be made in December 2024.
