Property on Curielaan Temporarily Closed Due to Illegal Prostitution

An extensive investigation by the Hague Economic Intervention Team (HEIT) revealed illegal activities taking place in the residence. The police and staff from HEIT’s prostitution team then took joint action. During the inspection, they found two sex workers in vulnerable circumstances. Staff from the prostitution team immediately offered them assistance. The sex workers were also given the opportunity to file a police report.

Vulnerable situation

“We cannot and must not tolerate the exploitation of people, in any form,” says Mayor Nadine Stemerdink. “We are doing our utmost to keep criminals and human traffickers out of Voorschoten. Illegal prostitution puts sex workers in a vulnerable situation. Their work often goes unnoticed. Everyone will understand that this can have far-reaching consequences for all those involved. That is why we have decided to close the establishment for two months. With this decision, we are helping to improve safety in our town for all our residents.”
