Councilman Paul de Bruijn Joins a Home Visit to Provide Free Energy Advice

Since the end of May, the municipality of Voorschoten has been providing free energy advice to households. Energy coaches from the organization Klimaatroute are initially visiting 280 households. This week, Alderman Paul de Bruijn accompanied a home visit.

The municipality of Voorschoten wants to help residents lower their energy bills. To that end, it is offering residents free energy advice and the installation of small energy-saving measures in their homes. This allows residents to quickly make their homes more energy-efficient and save money. The home visits are conducted on behalf of the municipality by energy coaches from the organization Klimaatroute.

An excellent time to make adjustments

On Tuesday, July 11, Councilman Paul de Bruijn accompanied a home visit. The councilman spoke with the resident about her higher energy bill. The energy coach then immediately installed a number of energy-saving devices wherever possible. Councilman De Bruijn said, “We shouldn’t underestimate how much of a difference small behavioral changes and energy-saving measures can make. Especially now, in the summer, is an excellent time to make these changes. By taking action now, residents will be able to save on their energy bills during the winter months. I am very pleased with this initiative and strongly believe in the power of small steps that can have a big impact.”

Who is eligible for energy counseling?

The municipality of Voorschoten has launched this initiative for households facing financial hardship due to rising energy prices. Households known to the municipality—including residents who received the energy allowance—were initially sent a letter. The success of the initiative has prompted the municipality to evaluate the program after the summer. In the future, more residents of Voorschoten may become eligible for this valuable support.
