Councilman Hubert Schokker Signs Lease Agreements with Outdoor Sports Clubs
The presidents of Voorschoten’s outdoor sports clubs and Alderman Hubert Schokker signed new lease agreements yesterday. The signings mark one of the key priorities of the municipality’s new sports facilities policy, which focuses on collaboration, equality, and high-quality facilities. Representatives from Sporttafel Voorschoten were also present at the signing.
Recently, the outdoor sports clubs and the municipality of Voorschoten have been working closely together to review and formalize the lease agreements. This effort stems from the desire to ensure equal treatment of all clubs and to improve sports facilities.

“Unlike many other municipalities, Voorschoten has a system of extensive privatization that has developed over time,” explains Alderman Hubert Schokker. “The municipality owns the land and is responsible for the subbase of the fields and the non-sports-related green spaces. But until now, management, maintenance, and replacement have been entirely the responsibility of the clubs. By signing new lease agreements, we are relieving the clubs of this financial and organizational burden.”
Quality of Sports Facilities
It became clear from both discussions with the clubs and an independent study that the quality of the sports facilities no longer meets the basic requirements in several respects. The new lease agreements offer a solution to this issue. The agreements were signed by the HVV ’70 handball club, the Adegeest baseball and softball club, the Adegeest tennis and padel park, and the Voorschoten ’97 soccer and track and field club. The Forescate tennis club and the MHC Forescate field hockey club will sign at a later date.
