Councilman Hans van der Elst Resigns
The Voorschoten City Council was informed this morning that Hans van der Elst is stepping down from his position as alderman effective immediately.
“The municipal executive has taken note of Alderman Van der Elst’s decision,” says Mayor Nadine Stemerdink. “We regret it, but we also respect it. We thank Hans for his tireless dedication and his collegiality during his time as an alderman for the municipality of Voorschoten.”
Portfolio Temporarily Divided
To ensure continuity of governance, the portfolio will be temporarily divided between the incumbent aldermen Pieter Varekamp and Hubert Schokker. The municipal executive will provide further information to the city council. A farewell ceremony for former alderman Van der Elst will be held at a later date to be determined.
