Alderman kicks off "Lekker Anders Day" at Nutsschool

Alderman On Wednesday, September 16, Mieremet, together with students from the Nutsschool, kicked off “Lekker Anders Day.” Through this initiative, they raised awareness about traffic safety and active commuting to school.

Elementary school students came to school "Lekker Anders"

During “Lekker Anders Day,” children were challenged to get to school by walking, biking, riding a scooter, or some other active means. The event is part of “Schoolbrengweek” and “Month of the Safe School Environment.” Through activities in the schoolyard, children and parents learned more about safe behaviour in traffic.

Getting to School Safely

Alderman Mieremet: “Children should be able to get to and from school safely. By being mindful of our behaviour in traffic and by walking or biking more often, children, parents, schools, and the municipality can all contribute to this together.”

The municipality is working with schools, parents, and regional partners to create safe school environments. “Lekker Anders Day” shows that even small choices made during the daily commute to school can make a difference.
