Alderman and students kick off Safe School Environment Month
Alderman Hubert Schokker and students from De Vos Elementary School kicked off Safe School Environment Month this morning. In the schoolyard, the “ Alderman ” and the assistant principal spoke about traffic safety. Afterward, the theme month was officially opened with “ coloured ” ribbons and the familiar banner reading “Our schools are back in session.”

The new school year began on Monday, September 1. Children are once again heading to school in large numbers and taking part in traffic. Especially during the first three months after summer vacation, more children are involved in traffic accidents. This is not only due to their inexperience in traffic, but also because drivers are no longer used to seeing so many children on their way to school.
Let's all pay a little more attention
“A safe school environment starts with all of us,” says Hubert Schokker, Alderman . “If we all pay a little more attention, we can ensure that children can get to school safely. That’s what we’re doing it for. Thank you to Holland Rijnland, ROV Zuid-Holland, Veilig Verkeer Nederland, the police, and schools for making it possible for us to organize this theme month together once again.”
