Construction Work in the Noord-Hoflandsche Polder
The Rijnland Water Board will implement measures related to the Noord-Hoflandsche Polder River Basin Plan. In collaboration with the municipality of Voorschoten and other stakeholders, insights and plans were developed between 2017 and 2021, resulting in a package of measures and a new water level decision. In line with this, Rijnland is implementing three measures to improve water flow, which may cause some inconvenience for you. More information about the Noord-Hoflandsche Polder Plan can be found on theRijnland Water Board’s website at.
Work
Rijnland is working to improve the water system in the Noord-Hoflandsche Polder. The municipality of Voorschoten is located in this polder. In short, the following three measures are being implemented:
- Near the Suze Groenewegerf, the lined waterway will be extended and a weir will be installed (M3B).
- A waterway and a culvert are being constructed near the Groene Draeckpad (M5A).
- Near Trompplein, a waterway and two culverts are being constructed (M5B). This will allow water to reach the pumping station more easily and improve water quality.
Work Schedule and Accessibility
Rijnland has commissioned the contractor Gebr. Schouls BV to carry out this work. The work—including preparatory work—will be carried out during the weeks from August 15 (week 33) through the end of October (week 43).
This will cause some traffic disruptions, as the culverts mentioned in measures M5A and M5B will be installed beneath the bike path. As a result, the bike path will be closed for a period of time, and slow-moving traffic will be locally rerouted during those periods. Throughout the construction period, the traffic situation for cyclists and pedestrians will be clearly indicated by signage.
