VVD, Voorschoten Lokaal, and CDA Present Coalition Agreement
The VVD, Voorschoten Lokaal, and CDA parties have finalized the formation of their coalition and will be working together for the next four years. On Monday, July 4, they presented their coalition agreement, titled “Voorschoten Moving Forward Together.” This agreement outlines the priorities this coalition intends to focus on in Voorschoten in the coming years.
The parties have also each nominated a candidate for the position of alderman. There are two new candidates for alderman: Hans van der Elst (Voorschoten Lokaal) and René Zoetemelk (CDA). Incumbent alderman Paul de Bruijn will remain in office.
Close to the Residents
The parties consider it most important that Voorschoten remains close to its residents. The coalition intends to involve residents more in policy-making and the implementation of initiatives. The focus is on providing quality services to residents. Residents will be invited to actively contribute their ideas on a wider range of topics.

- Voorschoten remains a wonderful place to live
In the future, too, Voorschoten will remain a wonderful, thriving residential village, with engaged residents, business owners, and community organizations. A village with a green character, ample amenities, (preventive) healthcare and social services nearby, and lively town centers where we can do our shopping or find a job locally. - Voorschoten has more affordable housing for various target groups
We are committed to developing more affordable housing, with a particular focus on young people, young families, and seniors. The focus is therefore on young people and first-time homebuyers who would like to continue living in Voorschoten. But we are also building for seniors to actively promote mobility in the housing market. Lifecycle-adaptive housing and construction require special attention. - Voorschoten is sustainable and future-proof
To tackle climate change, we’re implementing solutions focused on climate adaptation. Sustainable construction is the standard, and we’re modernizing our sewer systems step by step. We’re also ensuring that our residents stay dry in the future while treating our environment with care.
On Thursday, July 7, general deliberations will take place regarding this coalition agreement, and the proposed aldermen will be sworn in during a special city council meeting. The allocation of portfolios can be found in the coalition agreement. The city executive will later make a final decision on portfolios, the deputy mayor position, and other responsibilities.
