Firearms and counterfeit clothing found during a comprehensive inspection

Last Tuesday, the Municipality of Voorschoten and the police conducted a comprehensive inspection of storage units and commercial spaces in the Dobbewijk neighborhood. Among other items, they discovered counterfeit brand-name clothing, a firearm, ammunition, and a police uniform.

Comprehensive inspections are conducted by the municipality’s administrative intervention team to combat subversive activities, including the storage of hazardous substances in residential areas. With New Year’s Eve approaching, this inspection also focused on the storage of illegal fireworks. The police were present to provide support. Two dogs trained to detect explosive materials and hazardous chemicals were also on site.

Suspect Arrested

“No fireworks were stored in any of the commercial properties,” says Mayor Nadine Stemerdink. “However, a large quantity of counterfeit clothing was found in one commercial property. In another commercial property, the police found a firearm and firearm parts, a large quantity of ammunition, a brass knuckle, and a complete police uniform. The suspect has been arrested. We will continue to do our best to remove criminals, illegal products, and hazardous substances that pose a risk to our residents from Voorschoten.”
