Apply for the energy allowance

Residents who do not receive municipal benefits but have a low income can apply for the one-time energy allowance of €800. The allowance is intended to help pay energy bills, given the sharp rise in energy costs. The application form will be available on this webpage under the “Apply” heading no later than February 1, 2024.

The one-time payment is for residents who earn less than 120% of the social minimum per month. For a resident between the ages of 21 and retirement age, this amounts to less than €1,459.94 (single) or €2,085.62 (living with a partner) per month. The maximum income threshold varies depending on the situation.

Applications

The municipality of Leidschendam-Voorburg is administering the program on behalf of the municipality of Voorschoten. Once the application form at is available (no later than February 1, 2024), you can apply for the energy allowance. The form also includes the eligibility requirements, a link to the income limits, and details on what information the municipality needs. The energy allowance is a grant and does not need to be repaid.

Staff members can also help residents navigate financial matters and, for example, contact their energy provider.

Other arrangements
