Proposal for two new underground waste containers
In the 2021–2025 Raw Materials Plan, the Municipality of Amsterdam ( municipal council ) decided to optimize the collection of household waste and raw materials. Based on that decision, the municipality is installing two new underground waste containers at the corner of Nassaukade and Oude Adegeesterlaan. This will make it easier for local residents to separate and dispose of glass, paper, and cardboard.
“With 30 underground collection containers for glass and 39 for waste paper and cardboard, Voorschoten is taking a great step forward,” says Hubert Schokker, Alderman . “By choosing a location outside the ‘ centre ’ this time, we’re also making it easier for residents in that area to separate their waste and valuable raw materials. The residents’ committee at the nursing home on neighbourhood had even requested this.”
Easily accessible
When selecting the location, the municipality considered factors such as underground infrastructure (including cables and pipes), trees and parking spaces, walking distances, the visibility of the location, the presence of containers for other types of waste, and the distribution of locations throughout the municipality. The containers will be placed on a 2 x 2.5- metre-sized green space that is easily accessible to collection vehicles.
