Proposal for Two New Underground Waste Containers
In the 2021–2025 Raw Materials Plan, the city council decided to optimize the collection of household waste and raw materials. Based on that decision, the city is installing two new underground waste containers at the corner of Nassaukade and Oude Adegeesterlaan. This will make it easier for local residents to separate glass, paper, and cardboard for recycling.
“With 30 underground collection containers for glass and 39 for waste paper and cardboard, Voorschoten is taking a great step forward,” says Alderman Hubert Schokker. “By choosing a location outside the city center this time, we’re making it easier for residents in that area as well to separate their waste and valuable raw materials. The residents’ committee at the nearby nursing home had even requested this.”
Easily accessible
When selecting the location, the municipality considered factors such as the underground infrastructure (including cables and pipes), trees and parking spaces, walking distances, the visibility of the location, the presence of containers for other types of waste, and the distribution of locations throughout the municipality. The containers will be placed on a 2 x 2.5-meter green space that is easily accessible to collection vehicles.
