Voorschoten Beachcombers in Action for World Cleanup Day
A cleanup event and a creative workshop on making crafts from trash. Through these activities, the Voorschoten Beachcombers, in collaboration with the municipality, are raising awareness for World Cleanup Day. The event will take place on Saturday, September 19, at Treubplein.
On Saturday, September 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Jutters will be holding a cleanup event at the centre. Anyone interested in joining in or who would like to learn more first is welcome to visit the information booth on Treubplein. Municipal employees, volunteers, and the Jutters will be there to talk about their activities and answer questions. From 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., anyone who’s interested can also take part in a fun and educational workshop on crafting with trash.
A small effort, a big difference
“We’re working together to make Voorschoten clean,” says Pieter Varekamp, Alderman . “During World Cleanup Day, residents, volunteers, and organizations are literally rolling up their sleeves to make Voorschoten cleaner. I therefore warmly invite all residents to join the cleanup on Saturday, September 19. Every street we clean up and every piece of trash we pick up together contributes to a pleasant and sustainable living environment for all of us. With just a little effort, we can make a big difference.”
International Initiative
World Cleanup Day is an international initiative aimed at raising awareness about the impact of litter on the community, people, animals, and the environment. Voorschoten has been participating for several years now, and will do so again in 2026. The Voorschoten Beach Cleanup Group encourages all residents to join them in taking action for a cleaner local environment. Anyone who picks up litter on the event day and turns it in at the booth will receive a voucher for an ice cream at Moments.
