Voorschoten Welcomes Pieter Varekamp, " Alderman "
Pieter Varekamp began his new role today as Alderman in Voorschoten. On January 29, the municipal council decided to appoint him effective February 1.

After studying business administration in Rotterdam, Varekamp worked for telecommunications companies such as KPN and Telia, among others. He also worked as an independent industrial engineer. Following a four-year term as a council member and party leader in the municipality of Westland, he has served as Alderman there for the past six years.

“The warm welcome I received in the council chamber on Thursday says it all: this is where I want to get to work,” says the new Alderman. “I’m eager to get to know the council, my colleagues, business owners, and partners. Because only together can we build the future of the municipality of Voorschoten.”
Successor to Paul de Bruijn
Pieter is the successor to former “Alderman ” Paul de Bruijn, who will begin his new role as an advisor on European cooperation for the City of Leiden on February 2.
