Voorschoten Joins "Report a Crime Anonymously"

This is an old post.

The municipality of Voorschoten has joined Report Crime Anonymously (M.). This means that, starting now, the municipality will receive relevant information about crime and fraud. The collaboration between the municipality and the reporting hotline is an important step toward tackling crime and offenses where the legitimate and criminal worlds intersect.

Acting Mayor Aptroot:“Tackling this so-called subversive crime is a shared responsibility. Reliable information is essential in this regard. The municipality can assess reports from an administrative law perspective and then work with the police to determine the best course of action.”

If you cannot report it to the police

Report Crime Anonymously is an independent organization and is not part of the police.People can useM. to report issues such as cannabis cultivation, drug labs, illegal prostitution, fraud, and unexplained wealth. The anonymity of the person making the report is always a top priority.

Marc Janssen, spokesperson for M.:“It’s always best to go directly to the police if you have information about criminal activities, but in practice, that isn’t always easy. There are many reasons why people don’t come forward. For example, out of fear of retaliation or because they know the perpetrator. It’s also possible that people can’t foresee the consequences of reporting a crime or that, after the fact, they simply don’t want anything more to do with it. For all these cases, Report Crime Anonymously serves as a safety net. We ensure that the information reaches the investigators, but the person reporting remains anonymous.”

Available seven days a week at 0800-7000

M. can be reached seven days a week at 0800-7000. Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and on weekends and holidays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Reports can also be submitted 24/7 via a secure platform atmeldmisdaadanoniem.nl/melden.
