Voorschoten and Wassenaar Take an Important Step Toward Establishing Their Own Organizations

Last Tuesday, the two municipal executive boards took a major step toward establishing their own municipal organizations. In December, both executive boards— authorisation —will ask their respective councils to withdraw from the WODV joint arrangement. This marks an important milestone on the path to two independent administrative organizations. If the council approves this proposal, employees are expected to begin working in the new organizations in the spring of 2021.

Withdrawing from the GR is an important step. “It’s actually the official start of the phasing out of the joint working organization. Now we’re going to focus on building our own municipal organization. What kind of organization do we want to be, and how are we going to shape it together with our employees? This will ultimately allow us to gain more control over our own ambitions and better meet the needs of residents and business owners in the village,”said Mayor Aptroot.

Mayor De Lange:“This is an important step we’re taking now, as we begin discussions with the council. We’re looking ahead and are full of energy to work with our staff to build our new Wassenaar organization. This is a period during which we want to provide clarity to WODV employees as soon as possible. That way, we can work together to prioritize our local and regional challenges and ultimately achieve our shared goals for the residents of Wassenaar.”

In discussion with the committee and municipal council

In Wassenaar, the Municipal Council ( executive board ) will discuss this proposal on December 1 with the Administration and Resources Committee, and on December 15 with the Finance and Budget Committee ( municipal council). These meetings can be viewed live at.
