Information Session on a Safe Voorschoten at the Market

Staff from the Public Order and Safety Department of the Municipality of Voorschoten will be at the weekly market this Friday, December 16, together with the Voorschoten Fire Department. The municipality is also bringing a special anti-subversive crime bus for the occasion. Through this initiative, the municipality and the fire department aim to educate residents about subversive crime in an accessible and interactive way.  

The municipality is also focusing on the “Dark Days Offensive,” the national winter campaign to prevent residential burglaries. Over the past few days, paper “footprints” have appeared in various gardens and sheds in Voorschoten. These footprints were placed there by staff from the Surveillance & Enforcement Department and vocational students in the Surveillance and Security Enforcement program. The footprints were placed to raise residents’ awareness of how easily a burglar can strike. Residents can learn more about this during the information session at the market. 

The Big Fire Truck

The Voorschoten Fire Department will also be there with its large fire truck. Children can take a look at all the equipment inside the fire truck. Of course, they’ll also get to experience what it’s like to get behind the wheel as a real firefighter. The fire department will also provide information about the new smoke detector requirement and how to safely use a fireplace. 

Municipal employees and firefighters will be on site from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the end of the market on the Bloklaan side.
