Velostrada

General Information

The Velostrada is a through-route for cyclists between Leiden and The Hague, forming part of a network of through-routes connecting medium-sized and large cities such as Leiden, Katwijk, The Hague, Zoetermeer, and Delft, as well as passing through Voorschoten. The route is ideal for commuting and for recreational cyclists.

Improving the bike route in Voorschoten 

The province of South Holland and the municipality of Voorschoten have conducted a study to make cycling on the section of the route in Voorschoten even safer. We therefore plan to widen the curves on the bike path in 2024. Since the bike path is also frequently used by pedestrians, we want to construct several walking paths in the green belt next to the bike path, so that there is enough space for both cyclists and pedestrians.

Open House Evening

To inform all residents about the planned construction work, the municipality of Voorschoten and the province organized a public information session. This session took place on March 20, 2024, at the Dorpskerk in Voorschoten. Provincial and municipal staff were on hand during the event to answer questions. Attendees were also able to view drawings of the new layout.
