Starting January 5, 2022, parents affected by the child care allowance scandal can submit claims for their personal debts
Are you a parent or benefit partner affected by the childcare allowance scandal? If so, it’s important that you read this message!
Affected parents and benefit partners involved in the childcare allowance scandal—for whom the moratorium ends on February 12, 2022—will receive a letter from the Tax and Customs Administration on December 16, 2021, informing them of this.
In this letter, these parents/benefit partners are asked to submit their outstanding private debts and delinquent payments to the online private debt portal of Sociale Banken Nederland (SBN) starting January 5, 2022. These are debts owed to non-governmental organizations. Examples include debts you owe to a mail-order company such as Bol.com, an unpaid dental bill, or rent arrears owed to a landlord.
Where can you file for personal bankruptcy?
Starting January 5, 2022, you can submit your personal debts online viathe Sociale Banken Nederland website at. However, if you find it difficult to fill out your personal debt list online, you can alsodownload apersonal debt list form from the SBN website at starting January 5, 2022, so that you can submit the debt list by mail.
It is very important that, when your moratorium ends on February 12, 2022, you submit your private debts to SBN before that date. If you do not submit your private debts on time, creditors may (once again) begin collecting your outstanding debts.
What can you do as an affected parent?
You can start gathering all the documentation related to your outstanding private debts and delinquent payments right away. This way, you’ll be able to submit your list of private debts as soon as possible starting January 5, 2022. Examples of documentation you can start gathering now include invoices or invoice numbers, receipts, or payment reminders.
