Making your business or office more sustainable yields various benefits. For instance, it is financially attractive, and working in a well-insulated building is more pleasant. Furthermore, CO2-neutral organisations can count on a better reputation, have an advantage in tenders, and consumers are willing to pay a higher price for products and services. DE energy-saving obligation
Does your company or institution consume at least 50,000 kWh of electricity or 25,000 m³ of gas per year? Then you are required to take energy-saving measures with a payback period of five years or less. You must also report which energy-saving measures you have taken. In addition, office buildings have been required to have at least energy label C since 1 January 2023. Therefore, check your energy label, so that you can take measures. If the building does not meet the requirements, you may no longer use it as an office. This obligation is stated in the 2012 Building Decree (Bouwbesluit 2012). A number of exceptions apply.
