Upgrade for Gas Lanterns on Voorstraat
There are still original gas lanterns in the center of Voorschoten. The historic lanterns are a sight to behold. However, because replacement parts are no longer available, maintaining them has become impossible. The lanterns will be preserved, but they will be fitted with new shades containing LED lighting.
On November 6 and 7, Visser & Smit Hanab will remove eight gas connections on Voorstraat. SWARCO will then connect the lanterns to the public electric lighting system. Next year, the same will be done with the remaining gas lanterns in Voorschoten.
Potential Nuisance
Excavation work will be carried out on the road and sidewalk for this project. Residents may experience some noise disturbance. Weather conditions may cause delays in the work.
