Train Accident Near Voorschoten

This morning around 3:25 AM, an accident occurred involving a passenger train heading towards The Hague, near Voorschoten, close to the Geestwoningpad.

There were approximately 50 people on board the passenger train. Among them are 19 injured individuals, who have been taken to surrounding hospitals. The remaining passengers were accommodated on-site by helpful local residents.

Mayor Nadine Stemerdink: “This is an incredibly tragic accident. My heart goes out to the victims. Unfortunately, there is also a fatality to mourn. My thoughts go out to all family and friends of the people involved.”

Specialists are working to secure the train. No hazardous substances have been found.
