Train Accident Near Voorschoten

At around 3:25 a.m. this morning, an accident occurred involving a passenger train bound for The Hague near Voorschoten, close to Geestwoningpad.

There were about 50 people on the passenger train. Among them were 19 injured passengers, who were taken to nearby hospitals. The remaining passengers were taken in by helpful local residents at the scene.

Mayor Nadine Stemerdink: “This is an incredibly tragic accident. My heart goes out to the victims. Unfortunately, we must also mourn the loss of one life. My thoughts are with all the family and friends of those involved.”

Specialists are working to secure the train. No hazardous substances have been found.
