Temporary Closure of the Wassenaar Recycling Center

With an average of about 3,000 visitors per month, the recycling center in Wassenaar plays an important role in waste recycling. The recycling center is in need of a renovation, including modifications to ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic. To carry out this work, the recycling center will be temporarily closed.

When is the recycling center closed?

The work will take place from Monday, October 17, through November 12, 2022. We look forward to welcoming you back on Monday, November 14, at our renovated recycling center.

Extended hours on October 15 & November 19

On the Saturday before the temporary closure and the first Saturday after the recycling center reopens, we will have extended hours:

Open Saturday, October 15, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Open Saturday, November 19, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Where can I go?

If you’re unable to save up your bulky household waste, you can use your (digital) Avalex Pass to visit one of our other recycling centers:Recycling Center Hours – Avalex or schedule a bulky waste pickup at:Bulky Waste Pickup – Avalex

What are we going to do?

  • The management office (portacabin) will be replaced and relocated. It will also be possible to make debit card payments from your car, which will help reduce the line.
  • A new weighbridge is being installed with an improved access route to improve traffic flow.
  • The asphalt on the site is being partially replaced. Road markings and lane lines are also being added to improve visibility and reduce driving distances.
  • The collection site for yard and pruning waste is being reorganized to make it easier for you to dispose of your yard waste.
  • Installing solar panels will allow the power supply to be powered by solar energy.

Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to see you soon.
