Allowance for Single-Income Households
Is your income lower than you would expect? You may be eligible for the single-earner allowance.
A small number of households in the Netherlands receive fewer benefits than other households. As a result, they have less money left over after taxes than they should. These households may be eligible for the single-earner allowance.

You can apply for this allowance starting November 1, 2025.
For whom
- You or your partner receives benefits because you are unemployed or unable to work. The other partner has little or no income.
- You have less money to live on than you would if you were receiving only social assistance benefits. For example, because you receive less healthcare allowance or housing allowance.
- There are several requirements that determine whether you are eligible for the allowance. The application form includes questions designed to assess your eligibility.
