Allowance for single earners
Do you have a lower income than you would expect? You may be eligible for the single earner allowance.
A small number of households in NL receive fewer benefits than other households. They retain less net money than they should. These households are sometimes entitled to the single earner allowance.

You can apply for this allowance starting from November 1, 2025.
Who is eligible
- You or your partner receives benefits because you are unemployed or incapacitated . The other partner has little or no income.
- You’ll have less money to live on than if you were receiving only a Social assistance benefit . For example, because you’ll receive less healthcare assistance or housing assistance.
- There are several requirements that determine whether you are entitled to the allowance. The application form contains questions to assess whether you qualify.
