Voters from another EU country

You can decide for yourself in which EU country you will vote. In the Netherlands or in the EU country of your nationality. Will you be voting in the Netherlands? If so, you will vote for one of the Dutch members of the European Parliament.

One-time registration

Are you an EU citizen? Do you live in the Netherlands but do not hold Dutch citizenship? If you want to vote in the Netherlands, you must first fill out a Y-32 form at . This allows you to register once with your municipality. You can consult this guide at while filling out the form.

By completing Form Y-32, you declare that you will not be voting in another country. Otherwise, you could end up voting twice in the European Parliament elections, which is not allowed. You also declare on this form that you are not barred from voting.

This Y-32 form must be received by the Dutch municipality where you are registered no later than 44 days before Election Day. For the European Parliament election on June 6, 2024, the deadline is Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

The municipality will record your request in the Basic Register of Persons (BRP). The record remains valid as long as:

• the Member State of which you are a national is a member of the EU
• you live in the Netherlands
• unless you revoke the registration

Send the form and any attachments to the municipality by email or mail. You can also drop off the form at the reception desk in City Hall during our business hours.

Cancel Registration

Have you previously registered to vote in the European elections in the Netherlands? But would you like to vote in 2024 in the EU country of which you are a national? If so, please contact the municipality in the Netherlands where you live or used to live to cancel your previous Y-32 registration.
