Have you already marked "Lights Evening 2026" on your calendar?
Lighting candles as a warm reminder of our departed loved ones. To that end, the municipality of Voorschoten organizes “Lichtjesavond” once a year at Rosenburgh Memorial Park. This year, this special evening will take place on Friday, December 11.
From 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., you are welcome to light a candle in the beautifully lit memorial park. The park is open to the public this evening. Family members may visit the park and place candles on the graves. Please bring your own candle or select one on site.
Children's Memorial Service
Prior to the Evening of Lights, the municipality is organizing a brief gathering to commemorate children who have passed away. This special gathering will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the memorial park. Brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents, and other family members can light a candle, say the names of the children, listen to music, and share words of comfort and poems.
Registration
Would you like to attend the children’s memorial service? Please register in advance at lichtjesavond@voorschoten.nl. In your email, please indicate how many people will be attending and include the name, date of birth, and date of death of the deceased child. If you’d like, you can also include a nice photo of the child. You can register no later than Monday, December 7, at 12:00 p.m. If you register later than that, we cannot guarantee that the photo will be displayed.
Jansland Tea House Opens
The Jansland Tea House will be open during the Evening of Lights. You’re welcome to stop by for a chat while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea.
