Sportfondsen Voorschoten and the Municipality of Voorschoten Continue Their Partnership

The municipality and Sportfondsen have reached new agreements to ensure that swimming programs continue in the municipality for the next eight years. New agreements have also been reached for other facilities, such as the Vliethorst sports hall and several gyms. This is evident from the management and operating agreement signed last week.

“Maintaining and improving our sports facilities is important because sports and physical activity are healthy for young and old alike and also contribute to social cohesion in our village. It also aligns with our social agenda and the recent sports agreement, which centers on collaboration in the interest of our residents. We also want to make participating in sports as accessible as possible for the Voorschoten community. “Sports bring people together,” saidCouncilor Cramwinckel (Sports and Sports Facilities Policy).

Vital Voorschoten

Sportfondsen Voorschoten is also pleased with this new agreement. “We are delighted to have concluded this agreement following an intensive process. I am proud that we can do our part to support the various social challenges the municipality is facing. Soon, we will work with the municipal government to explore how we can use the swimming pool, sports hall, and gyms under our management to contribute even more effectively to these challenges—and thus to a vibrant Voorschoten.” said Chairman Bruno van Dunné. “I am certain that Operations Director Gerard van Hal and his team will once again provide many children and adults with wonderful experiences at the swimming pool and other facilities!”

Voorschoten Sports Funds

For many years now, the sports facilities within the municipality have been managed and operated by Sportfondsen Voorschoten. The new agreement stems from the city council’s decision to ensure that swimming remains available. Other developments, such as new VAT legislation, have also been incorporated into the agreements. Based on a council decision, the Cultural Center is now managed by the Stichting Beheer Cultureel Centrum and is not covered by the agreement.

Pandemic

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sportfondsen Voorschoten and the municipality joined forces to navigate the pandemic as best as possible. We appreciate how Sportfondsen handled this, said the alderman.

In 2024, the partnership will be evaluated, and the future of swimming will be reassessed.
