Sponsor a bench

Individuals, associations, foundations, and businesses have the opportunity to sponsor a bench in Voorschoten. You will be provided with space on the bench to attach a plaque with text. The municipality will continue to handle the maintenance of the bench, so you do not need to do this yourself. You sponsor a bench for a period of five years. Types of benches

There are two types of benches in Voorschoten. The “ centre,” Burgemeester Berkhout Park, Rosenburgh Park, and Park Ter Wadding each have their own unique benches. Standard benches are found in residential neighborhoods and rural areas. You can sponsor either type. There is a price difference between the two types of benches. 

Placing a new bench

It is also possible to install a new bench in a location where none currently exists, such as a picnic bench along the water or a gazebo in a park. There are many possibilities for sponsoring a new bench, and we are happy to brainstorm with you. However, there are a few factors you should keep in mind.

How does the sponsorship process work?

  1. Register as a potential sponsor with the municipality via groen@voorschoten.nl or call 14 071. The manager will be happy to schedule an appointment with you.
  2. You have an appointment with the municipality to:
    - determine which bench you will sponsor;
    - discuss the text to be placed on the plaque;
    - receive information regarding the maintenance schedule of the bench;
    - discuss any repairs the municipality needs to make to the bench before you adopt it;
    - learn about other sponsors so you can contact them if desired.
  3. Approval from local residents (if the bench is located near buildings)
  4. Signing the sponsorship agreement

What happens if the bench or plaque is damaged by vandalism, for example?

The maintenance budget includes an amount for minor repairs. The municipality will carry out repairs to both the bench and the plaque. If the bench is no longer safe to use, the municipality will replace it if it is an existing bench. If you had a new bench installed, the municipality will discuss with you whether you wish to replace the bench at your own expense. If the plaque is no longer legible, you will need to pay for a new plaque yourself.

The bench can no longer remain in its current location

The municipality will consult with you to find a solution, such as moving the bench to another location. The municipality will make the final decision regarding the solution after this consultation.
