Sponsor a bench

Individuals, associations, foundations, and businesses can sponsor a bench in Voorschoten. You will then be given space on the bench to place a plaque with text. The municipality will continue to maintain the bench; you do not have to do this yourself. A bench sponsorship lasts for five years. You can read all the rules for sponsoring a bench.

Types of Banks

There are two types of benches in Voorschoten. The town center, Burgemeester Berkhout Park, Rosenburgh Park, and Ter Wadding Park each have their own unique benches. Standard benches are located in the residential neighborhoods and outlying areas. You can sponsor either type. There is a price difference between the two types of benches.

Installing a new bench

It’s also possible to install a new bench where there isn’t one right now. For example, a picnic bench by the water or a gazebo in a park. There are many options for sponsoring a new bench. We’d be happy to work with you to find the right solution. There are, however, a few things you should keep in mind.

Sponsor other street furniture

Do you have an idea for sponsoring other street furniture? A flower box, for example? If so, please contact us.

How does sponsorship work?

  1. Please register as a potential sponsor with the municipality viagroen@voorschoten.nlor call 14 071. The administrator will be happy to schedule an appointment with you.
  2. You have an appointment with the municipality to:
    - determine which bench you will sponsor;
    - discuss what text will appear on the plaque;
    - to inform you about the maintenance schedule for the bench;
    - to discuss what repairs the municipality still needs to make to the bench before you adopt it;
    - to find out who the other sponsors are, so you can contact them if you wish.
  3. Consent from nearby residents (when the bank is located near residential areas)
  4. Signing the Sponsorship Agreement

What if the bench or the plaque is damaged, for example, by vandalism?

The maintenance budget includes funds for a minor repair. The municipality will carry out the repair on both the bench and the plaque. Is the bench no longer safe to use? If it is an existing bench, the municipality will replace it. Did you have a new bench installed? In that case, the municipality will discuss with you whether you would like to replace the bench at your own expense. Is the plaque no longer legible? In that case, you will need to pay for a new plaque yourself.

The bench can no longer remain in its current location

The municipality will then consult with you to find a solution. For example, moving the bench to a different location. After this consultation, the municipality will decide on the final solution.
