Closure of the business premises at Dobbeweg 17, Voorschoten
On February 3, 2022, the business premises at Dobbeweg 17 were closed by order of Mayor Stemerdink. On December 8, 2021, police discovered a large quantity of hard drugs at the premises, consisting of 2,000 kilograms of (base) cocaine with a total street value of 150 million euros. The commercial property has been closed for six months under the Opium Act, until August 3, 2022.
Drug-related activities are criminal and subversive acts that seriously undermine public order, safety, and public health. Mayor Stemerdink therefore attaches great importance to combating and preventing drug-related activities and the resulting risks in the municipality of Voorschoten.
Pursuant to Article 13b of the Opium Act, the mayor has the authority to close a residence or commercial property if a commercial quantity of hard or soft drugs, a cannabis cultivation operation, or a drug lab is found there.
