Clean, intact, and safe
Voorschoten is a clean, intact, and safe village, and it must remain that way. To achieve this, the municipality deploys its Special Investigative Officers (BOAs), among other measures, to promote quality of life. The BOAs are authorized to issue citations for minor, nuisance-causing violations. For example, there are BOAs who enforce parking policies, dog waste regulations, and restrictions on alcohol consumption in public spaces on behalf of municipalities.
In this way, the municipality of Voorschoten combats nuisances that cause annoyance to residents and visitors and lead to littering and damage to public spaces. The BOAs can be recognized by their uniforms and can provide identification.
To help residents of Voorschoten experience their own neighborhood as a socially safe environment, the municipality encourages and supports neighborhood initiatives related to the living environment. The municipality raises residents’ awareness of their own role and responsibility in the quality of their neighborhood and public spaces.
How can you help?
Keeping a village well-maintained is not just the municipality’s responsibility. We are all responsible for public spaces, and residents can also contribute to this. If you notice:
- problems with sidewalks or parks
- pollution, litter, and flooding
- broken-down bicycles, damaged street furniture (such as benches and playground equipment), and graffiti
- dead animals on the road
- a problem with the streetlights
