Clean, intact, and safe
Voorschoten is a clean, intact, and safe village, and it must remain that way. To achieve this, the municipality deploys its Special Investigative Officers (BOAs), among other measures, to improve the quality of life. The BOA's are authorized to issue citations for minor, nuisance-causing violations. For example, there are BOAs who enforce parking policies, dog waste regulations, and restrictions on alcohol consumption in public spaces on behalf of municipalities.
The municipality of Voorschoten combats nuisances that cause irritation to residents and visitors, as well as pollution and damage to public spaces. Municipal enforcement officers (BOAs) can be recognized by their uniforms and are able to identify themselves.
To help residents of Voorschoten experience their own neighborhood as a socially safe environment, the municipality encourages and supports neighborhood initiatives related to the living environment. The municipality raises residents’ awareness of their own role and responsibility in the quality of their neighbourhood and public spaces.

A well-maintained village is not solely the municipality's responsibility. We all share responsibility for the public space, and residents can certainly contribute. Have you noticed:
- issues with pavement or public gardens
- pollution, litter, and flooding
- abandoned bicycles, damaged street furniture (such as benches and playground equipment), and graffiti
- deceased animals on the road
- a problem with street lighting
