Partnership with Zorg en Zekerheid

Affordable health insurance with comprehensive coverage, specifically for people with lower incomes. The municipality of Voorschoten and health insurer Zorg en Zekerheid will work together to make this a reality. Today, they signed a new agreement for at least three years.

The signatories shook hands

Under the agreement, people with lower incomes can enroll in the municipal health insurance plan, a more affordable health insurance option thanks to a discount from Zorg en Zekerheid and a monthly contribution from the municipality. Alderman Paul de Bruijn signed the agreement on behalf of the municipality. Division Manager Casper van den Bergh signed it on behalf of Zorg en Zekerheid.

Coverage is tailored to your needs

Councilor De Bruijn: “It’s great that we can once again offer this discounted insurance plan, in partnership with Zorg en Zekerheid, to low-income residents. The coverage under this municipal policy is tailored to individual needs. This allows us to provide targeted support to improve the health of our residents. Of course, residents decide for themselves which policy to choose.”

Zorg en Zekerheid is also pleased with the new agreement. “We believe the municipal health insurance plan serves a social purpose,” says division manager Van den Bergh. “This ensures that healthcare remains accessible and affordable for people with lower incomes. Zorg en Zekerheid is a nonprofit organization with no shareholders. So we don’t need to make a profit on the municipal health insurance plan.”

Choose from three packages

Residents who are eligible for the municipal health insurance plan will receive a letter from the municipality in mid-November. The letter will detail the premiums, the municipality’s contribution, and how residents can enroll. There are three supplemental coverage packages: the AV-Gemeente Basis or AV-Gemeente Standaard for those with low healthcare costs, and the AV-Gemeente Top for those who require extensive care.

Starting November 16, residents can compare the plans at www.gezondverzekerd.nl. They can also sign up there. Applications are submitted to the municipality of Voorschoten, which reviews them to ensure all required information is included. If so, the municipality will register the applicant with Zorg en Zekerheid.
