Sewer Work in Noord-Hofland
On behalf of the municipality, GMB Leidingtechnieken is renovating the sewer system at more than 40 locations in Noord-Hofland. The work begins today and will continue through February 2026.

A trip down memory lane: Noord-Hofland in 2011
The contractor is renovating the sewer system using the relining method. By inserting a plastic liner into the existing main sewer line and allowing it to cure, a completely new sewer pipe is created.
Cleaning and Inspection
First, the sewer must be cleaned. To do this, the contractor uses a high-pressure truck to flush the debris from the main sewer into the manhole. There, the debris is sucked up by a vacuum truck. Once the sewer is clean, the contractor inspects it using a computer-controlled video camera.
Letters to Residents and Warning Signs
The work is being done underground, but because of the vehicles on site, part of the road sometimes has to be closed off. When it’s a particular location’s turn, the contractor will send out letters to residents and put up warning signs.
Chemical odor
Synthetic resin will be used during the work. This may cause a temporary chemical odor—the smell of polystyrene. This odor is not harmful. Is it bothering you? Let all the faucets run for a moment. This will help reduce any odor nuisance.
