Results of the Flash Poll on Sustainable Electricity

Alderman Schokker: “This survey shows that residents of Voorschoten are eager to actively contribute ideas about sustainable electricity. The results provide us with important information that we’ll use, in particular, to encourage the generation of solar energy on rooftops and to prevent overloading of the power grid as much as possible.”

Solar panels

One of the notable findings is that there is still significant potential for installing solar panels on rental and Homeowners' Association (VvE) properties. Residents of these homes are positive about making their homes more sustainable. However, they depend on others to make a decision about this. In addition, excessively high costs are also a reason for not choosing solar panels.

Rural Area

A narrow majority of respondents are fundamentally positive or neutral about large-scale energy generation in rural areas, such as solar parks and wind turbines. Conditions or objections mentioned include ensuring that the impact on nature is minimal. Furthermore, priority should be given to generating sustainable energy within urban areas. These insights provide a solid foundation for the municipality to determine how to approach such large-scale sustainable initiatives.
