Results of the Flash Poll on Sustainable Electricity

Councilmember Schokker: “This survey shows that residents of Voorschoten are eager to actively contribute ideas about sustainable electricity. The results provide us with important information that we will use, in particular, to promote solar energy generation on rooftops and to prevent overloading of the power grid as much as possible.”

Solar Panels

One of the notable findings is that there is still significant potential for installing solar panels on rental properties and homes owned by homeowners’ associations. Residents of these homes are in favor of making their homes more sustainable. However, they are dependent on others to make that decision. In addition, high costs are another reason why they do not opt for solar panels.

Rural Area

A narrow majority of respondents are, in principle, positive or neutral toward large-scale energy generation in rural areas, such as solar farms and wind turbines. One condition or concern mentioned, for example, is that the impact on nature must be minimal. Furthermore, priority should be given to the generation of renewable energy in urban areas. These insights provide a solid foundation for the municipality to determine how to address such large-scale renewable energy initiatives.
