Sewer Cleaning and Inspection

The Municipality of Voorschoten is having the municipal sewer system cleaned and inspected in a number of neighborhoods and streets. The work is being carried out by vandervalk+degroot. These activities are part of the scheduled maintenance of the sewer system.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Noord-Hofland, the area between Leidseweg, Trompweg, Admiraal de Ruytersingel, and Piet Heynlaan: Week 32 and part of Week 33
  • Benvenuto Avenue: Week 33
  • Starrenburglaan and Peppellaan: Week 35
  • Starrenburg: Weeks 35 and 36

The schedule is subject to change. In the event of heavy rainfall or severe sewer contamination, the work may take longer or be postponed.

How are the construction works affecting you?

During the work, cleaning and inspection vehicles will be present on the street. A street may be temporarily less accessible. You do not need to stay home.

To minimize disruption in your home, we recommend that you do the following during the work:

  • keep the toilet lid closed and, if necessary, weigh it down;
  • Cover shower drains and sinks with a wet cloth;
  • Be sure to rinse out the sinks and shower drains thoroughly afterward;
  • Do not park over a manhole.

In general, the work will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Depending on the street, the work may last anywhere from one hour to a full workday.

Sewer Manhole in Your Yard

Some gardens have a sewer manhole. We ask residents to keep this manhole easily accessible and to temporarily remove any garden furniture, plants, or other objects.
