Regional Agenda for the 2040 Environmental Vision

On July 6, 2017, the Voorschoten City Council adopted the “Regional Agenda for the 2040 Environmental Vision: The Heart of Holland.”

Status

It is a joint initiative of the ten municipalities: Kaag en Braassem, Katwijk, Leiden, Leiderdorp, Noordwijk, Oegstgeest, Teylingen, Voorschoten, Wassenaar, and Zoeterwoude. As the name suggests, the agenda is a planning document. It serves as a regional framework for local environmental visions.

Contents

Over the past year, the ten municipalities have worked together with residents, businesses, and institutions to develop a shared vision for the future of our region. “The Heart of Holland: Regional Agenda for the 2040 Environmental Vision” ensures that spatial development in the region will be better coordinated as we move toward 2040. This is important for the quality of the physical living environment. Regional coordination is important because many developments span municipal boundaries or have cross-boundary effects. The challenges and values will be further elaborated at the regional level and translated by each municipality to apply to its own territory.
