Solar Energy Quick Scan for Large Roofs: Now Available
The Municipality of Voorschoten, in collaboration with the consulting firm Stantec, offers a quick scan for large roofs. This scan determines whether it is possible to generate solar energy on your building. The scan looks beyond just the available roof area, as it also takes into account your electricity consumption profile.
This scan will give you insight into:
- your electricity usage profile;
- your roof's potential for solar energy;
- The (financial) benefits of making the most of your roof.
The quick scan is intended for owners and tenants of buildings with a roof area of approximately 70 m² or more, provided they are not private residences. The program focuses primarily on flat roofs of businesses, institutions, and other organizations.
How do you know if your roof meets the requirements?
The roof area must be at least 70 m². To determine whether your roof is suitable for the quick scan, you can measure the roof area. This can be done simply by multiplying the length and width of the roof. You can also use online tools such as the PDOK Viewer or Google Maps for a quick estimate. If you don’t have access to blueprints or are unable to measure the area yourself, ask the building manager for help.

The number of available scans is limited. Scans will be performed on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no cost to you for the scan. You can register until December 31, 2025.
For the analysis, the municipality needs to request your consumption data from your utility company—with your permission.
