The Province of South Holland is repairing the roadway on Veurseweg
The Province of South Holland will be repairing and repaving the Veurseweg (N447). The work will take place on the section of road between Haagwijk and Laantje van Van Wissen, located between Leidschendam and Voorschoten. The work will be carried out over the weekend, from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, to 6:00 a.m. on Monday, August 29.
Accessibility
During the aforementioned weekend, Veurseweg will be closed to through traffic (cyclists and motorists), commercial vehicles, and public transportation. Residents and visitors can access the businesses and homes on Veurseweg and Kniplaan via the bike path. They can use the map to see how to get to their destination. The municipality kindly asks residents to travel by bicycle as much as possible during this period. Traffic controllers will be on hand to direct local traffic onto the bike paths.
The work may cause some noise disturbance on Friday evening, when the old asphalt will be removed. The Province’s contractor will try to minimize the disturbance as much as possible. Through traffic will be rerouted via the N44. Cyclists will be rerouted along the railroad tracks.
Speed limit increased to 60 km/h
Once the construction work is complete, the speed limit on the N447 will be reduced from 80 km/h to 60 kilometers per hour. This lower speed limit is advisable given the various side roads and parking lanes immediately adjacent to the road. In addition, there is an increasing amount of development in the area. Lowering the speed limit will provide better visibility on the road. This will improve traffic safety for all road users.
