Police Conduct Training at Zilverfabriek
On October 13 and 14, between 12:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., the Leiden Zuid grassroots team is organizing training days in and around the Zilverfabriek. The municipality of Voorschoten has granted authorisation for this event.
During the training days, approximately 60 to 70 police officers are present, most of whom are in uniform. The exercises take place both indoors and outdoors on the grounds of the Zilverfabriek.
Training weapons with blank cartridges
On Tuesday, October 13, the police will primarily be conducting drills inside the building. On Wednesday, October 14, practical drills will take place at the “ programme.” These drills will involve, among other things, the use of training weapons with blank cartridges. As a result, loud pops may be heard in the surrounding area for a short time. These sounds are part of the drill and are no cause for concern.
Why this exercise?
It is important for police officers to regularly practice their skills in a realistic environment. Since the Zilverfabriek is currently vacant, the municipality has grant authorisation s to use the building for these training sessions. This allows the police to continue training their personnel.
Entrance gate closed
The exercises are closed to the public. Therefore, the grounds are off-limits and the entrance gate will remain closed.
