Planting the "Heroes of the Resistance" Tree

General Information

On March 12, 2025, the municipality of Voorschoten will commemorate the three young resistance heroes Alexander Adamski, Jan Wagtendonk, and Bram Limburg. Exactly 80 years ago, they were shot to death on Hofplein in Rotterdam in an act of retaliation by the German occupying forces.

By planting a “Resistance Heroes Tree” on the Verzetsstrijderspad in Starrenburg I, we are commemorating this event. This tree pays tribute to the courageous men and women of the local resistance, who helped people in hiding, arranged for food rations, and carried out clandestine resistance activities during the war.

Seventh-grade students from the Fortgens School are planting the tree together with veterans from Voorschoten. One student is reciting a poem during the ceremony.
