The municipality is responsible for the collection and processing of household waste. Household waste is waste generated by residents. It is not commercial waste.
The municipality establishes plans and regulations to collect and process household waste.
Rules on Waste and Raw Materials
The waste management regulation sets out the duties and responsibilities of the municipality regarding waste and resources. For example, the collection of waste. The implementation decision states what the municipality does. For example, that the municipality collects textiles using collection containers and comes to empty the residual waste containers once every 2 weeks for residents with a house with a garden. Click here for the implementation decision.
Monitoring and Control
The waste coach and the “ boa's ” monitor and ensure that the residents of Voorschoten comply with the rules regarding waste and raw materials.
The policy rule on the enforcement of improper waste disposal states which rules apply to this. For example, that residents present food scraps and vegetable, fruit and garden waste in a container for food scraps and vegetable, fruit and garden waste. These rules are explained in the “Waste Coach Guidelines” and the “Waste and Raw Materials Enforcement Officers’ Guidelines.” They also outline what the waste coach and enforcement officers do when residents dispose of waste or raw materials improperly. For example, a resident first receives a warning. And the municipality can recover the costs of the resident’s actions from the resident. That amount is often around 100 euros. Raw Materials Plan
On April 3, 2025, the Dutch Association of Natural Resources Companies ( municipal council ) decided to extend the raw materials plan until December 31, 2029.
For example, the raw materials plan states that the municipality uses information about waste and raw materials to encourage the residents of Voorschoten to sort their waste more effectively.
