"Pearl of Voorschoten" Award for Sjaak Spann and Bart van der Ploeg
This afternoon, Mayor Nadine Stemerdink presented the “Pearl of Voorschoten” award to Mr. Sjaak Spann and Mr. Bart van der Ploeg. They received the award for their many years of volunteer work for the Noord-Hofland Association.
The award ceremony took place during the appreciation event for the association’s volunteers and activity leaders at the Alettahof Activity Center, located at Aletta Jacobsplantsoen 97.
Sjaak Spann
Mr. Spann joined the board of the Noord-Hofland Association in 2002. Starting in 2004, he served as the association’s president for nearly 20 years. Currently, as a board member of the Noord-Hofland Association, Mr. Spann is responsible for purchasing and maintenance, including cleaning and bar services. In addition to his work for the Noord-Hofland Association, Mr. Spann has also been active with De Zonnebloem and St. Laurentius Church. In October 2021, Mr. Spann received a medal in recognition of his dedication to St. Laurentius Church.
Bart van der Ploeg
Mr. Van der Ploeg joined the board of the Noord-Hofland Association in 2018 as treasurer and acting chair. Prior to that, he held various other volunteer positions, including treasurer of the Laurentius Music Association (1987–1999), treasurer of the CDA Voorschoten chapter (2005–2014), and president of Harmonie Voorschoten (2009–2017). In addition, Mr. Van der Ploeg served as a board member (treasurer) of the Cultuurfabriek Voorschoten Association.
About the Noord-Hofland Association
More than 350 residents of the Noord-Hofland neighborhood are currently members of the Noord-Hofland Association. The association’s activities take place at the Alettahof Activity Center. Weekly activities are held here, such as yoga, painting, bridge, and the seniors’ café. The center’s rooms are available for rent for gatherings, meetings, lectures, and events that align with the association’s social objectives. All activities are run by volunteers.
