Last gas lanterns in the city center have also been replaced
There are still original gas lanterns in the center of Voorschoten. Since replacement parts are no longer available, maintaining them has become impossible. The lanterns will be preserved, but they will be fitted with new shades containing LED lighting. Following the first eight gas lanterns on Voorstraat, it is now the turn of the remaining seventeen lanterns on Kerkplein, Molenlaan, and the rest of Voorstraat.

From March 31 through April 2, Visser & Smit Hanab will remove the gas connections. SWARCO will then connect the streetlights to the public electrical grid. During the replacement, special attention was paid to preserving the classic streetscape while ensuring sustainability and significant energy savings.
Potential Nuisance
Excavation work will be carried out on the road and sidewalk for this project. Residents may experience some noise disturbance. Weather conditions may cause delays in the work.
