Hybrid Work
A full workweek is 36 hours per week. In Voorschoten, we offer flexible work hours for many positions. This means that, to a large extent, you decide when your workday begins and ends, and that you organize your workweek in consultation with your supervisor—for example, working four nine-hour shifts or four eight-hour shifts plus one morning shift. For some positions (such as customer-facing roles or technical positions that follow a set schedule), this flexibility is not possible.
For positions with flexible work hours, you can work from home for 50% of your work time. We’ll make sure you have access to the necessary equipment. You’ll be provided with a high-quality laptop, monitor, cell phone, keyboard, and headset on loan. In addition, to help you set up a health and safety-approved home office, the municipality of Voorschoten provides a one-time allowance of up to €500 net every five years. You can use this to purchase a desk, for example. But that’s not all! If you work from home, you’ll receive a work-from-home allowance of €2.40 and an internet allowance of €0.85 per day.
Salary and Other Compensation
Depending on your knowledge and experience, you will be placed on either the entry-level scale or the position-specific scale for the role. Each scale consists of 11 pay increments. As long as you have not reached the maximum of the scale, you will receive an annual salary increase upon a positive performance review. If you perform exceptionally well, there are opportunities to be financially rewarded for that as well.
Good to know:
- Do you volunteer for our municipality in addition to your regular job as a first-aid responder, emergency response team member, or member of the anti-aggression/intervention team? If so, you will receive a gross annual stipend of €220.

Training and Career Development
As an employee of our organization, you’ll have a performance review with your manager at least once a year. It’s important to us to know how you’re doing. The review process always includes a specific focus on development goals. Where am I now, where do I want to go, and how do I get there?
You’ll work with your manager to agree on the steps you’ll take to address those questions. These development agreements are documented and serve as a guide for your career, helping you make decisions. Our goal is to help you grow in a role that suits you best and aligns with your aspirations. Of course, we’ll support you every step of the way.
