Hybrid working

A full working week is 36 hours per week. In Voorschoten, flexible working hours are available for many positions. This means that to a large extent you determine yourself when your working day begins and ends, and you arrange your working week in consultation with your manager: for example, working four nine-hour days or four eight-hour days and one morning. For a number of positions (DENK of public functions, technical functions involving shift work), this flexibility is not possible.

For positions with flexible working hours, it is possible to work 50% of your working time from home. We ensure that you have access to the necessary facilities. You are provided with a good laptop, monitor, mobile phone, keyboard, and headset on loan. In addition, to set up an occupational Health-approved home workstation, the Municipality of Voorschoten makes an amount of up to € 500 net available once every five years. You can use this to purchase a desk, for example. That is not all! Do you work from home? Then you receive a home-working allowance of € 2.40 and an internet allowance of € 0.85 per day.

Salary and other remuneration

Depending on knowledge and experience, placement takes place in the introductory scale or the functional scale of the position. Each scale consists of 11 periodic increments. As long as the maximum of the scale has not been reached, you will receive an annual salary increase upon a positive evaluation. If you perform excellently, there are opportunities to reward this financially as well.

Good to know:

  • Do you commit yourself outside of your work to our municipality as a first aider, company emergency responder (BHV), or member of the anti-aggression/intervention team? Then you will receive an allowance of € 220 gross per year for this.
  • Do you work in one of the field service teams (grey, Parks and Cleaning, Sewer Crew, or Forest and Tree Crew) and do you perform dirty work? If so, you’ll receive an inconvenience allowance of €200 gross per month, prorated based on your employment.

Individual Choice Budget

With us, you’ll receive an Individual Choice Budget (ICB): the ICB amounts to 17.05% of your salary. You can use this budget for various purposes. If you have children or are a carer , you may need additional leave hours. Or perhaps you’d like to take a course or save up for a major expense.

You can use your budget for one or more of the following purposes:

  • purchasing extra leave hours, up to a maximum of 187 hours
  • receiving extra money by having it paid out
  • financing a non-work-related study
  • financing a (electric) bicycle
  • private lease of a bicycle
  • trade union contributions
  • repaying student debt

Education and career development

As an employee of our organisation, you have a progress review with your manager at least once a year. We consider it important to know how you are doing. The conversation cycle always explicitly includes attention to development agreements. Where am I now, where do I want to go and how do I get there?

You make agreements with your manager about the actions you will take to answer those questions. The development agreements are recorded and serve as a guideline for your career and help you make choices. In this way, we aim to help you grow in a role that suits you best and aligns with your wishes. Naturally, we facilitate you in this.

Vitality

A healthy mind requires a healthy body. We encourage sports and activities aimed at promoting physical fitness, which is why you receive an annual gross vitality contribution of € 250. This contribution is part of our vitality policy. We also know that finding and maintaining the right balance can sometimes be difficult.
