Statement of Support

What is it?

By signing a declaration of support, you are endorsing a political party that is running in the House of Representatives election. New parties that are not yet represented in the House of Representatives must submit at least 30 declarations of support from voters. Only then can they participate in the election.

If you would like to support a political party, you can have your declaration of support verified and registered at the Civil Affairs Department of City Hall from September 25 through October 9, 2023.

How do I make a statement?

You will receive the declaration of support from the political party you wish to support. It includes the party’s list of candidates. You can find the document at the bottom of the page. Fill out the declaration of support and sign it at City Hall in the presence of a receptionist. You do not need to make an appointment for this. You can visit the Civil Affairs Department or the reception desk Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Don’t forget to bring your ID.

Once the staff member has reviewed and registered your statement of support, you will receive the form back. You should submit the form to the political party you wish to support.

Terms and Conditions

  • You must be registered as a voter in Voorschoten.

Making Up for Absences

On Wednesday, October 11, and Thursday, October 12, you will have the opportunity to correct an omission. You can do this between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the front desk in City Hall. An omission might be that a new party has submitted too few statements of support. You do not need to make an appointment for this.
