Business Owners Invited to Participate in a Public Consultation on Social Real Estate

The Municipality of Voorschoten is working on a public interest resolution regarding the leasing of social real estate. Before the municipality makes its decision, it would like to engage in dialogue with business owners and other stakeholders. For this reason, it is organizing a public consultation on Monday evening, April 13.

In the public interest resolution, the municipality stipulates that it may lease buildings with a social function at a lower, below-cost rate. Examples include sports facilities, community centers, neighborhood centers, the library, and locations for toddler care and early childhood education. Real estate used for commercial activities, such as childcare, is not covered by this provision.

Understanding Potential Effects

“Before the Housing and Urban Development Committee ( municipal council ) adopts the resolution on June 4, we would like to gain insight into the potential effects on the Social Housing Fund ( markt ) and the parties involved,” explains Pieter Varekamp, Director of the Social Housing Fund ( Alderman ). “Through this market consultation, we look forward to engaging in dialogue with entrepreneurs, commercial landlords, real estate professionals, and others active in the social housing sector.”

Registration

Business owners and other stakeholders who anticipate that the decision may affect them are cordially invited to participate. The public consultation will take place on Monday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Voorschoten. Registration is required and can be completed by Wednesday, April 8, at 4:00 p.m. via vastgoed@voorschoten.nl. You may also use that email address for further information.
