Maintenance of the Sijtwen Tunnel and Its Impact on Voorschoten

Between February 4 and May 18, Rijkswaterstaat will be performing maintenance on the lighting in the Sijtwenden Tunnel (N14) in our neighboring municipality of Leidschendam-Voorburg.

Maintenance will take place 24 hours a day on weekdays, from 9:00 p.m. on Sunday evening through 6:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. The tunnel will remain open on weekends so that the Mall of the Netherlands remains accessible. Road users will be rerouted and should expect an additional travel time of 10 to 30 minutes.

Impact on Voorschoten

Road users will be rerouted around Voorschoten as much as possible. However, we can’t avoid the fact that traffic will also be heavier on Leidseweg/Veurseweg and Wijngaardenlaan. This is especially true during rush hour. Therefore, please expect longer travel times. And consider, for example, traveling by bike or public transportation during rush hour.
