General Information
The Environmental Vision outlines all municipal policies regarding the physical living environment. The physical living environment is the public space where we live, work, meet one another, and relax.
Preserve and Strengthen
To preserve the beautiful town of Voorschoten and enhance it where necessary, we are going to develop a vision for the future. What should Voorschoten look like in 2040—15 years from now? What will be important to you then? How should we manage the space in Voorschoten when considering energy, climate, suitable housing, or transportation that doesn’t impact the environment? Since there are no simple solutions to these questions, we need to think about them together.
In the environmental vision, you can read about the long-term plans for our living environment and the strategic choices we are making in that regard. Because even in the future, the municipality wants Voorschoten to remain a village where we live, reside, and work together in a healthy way.
Current Status
After more than a year and a half of research and extensive discussions with residents, business owners, and community organizations, the municipality has drafted the “Draft Environmental Vision for Voorschoten 2040.” This document is currently available for public review and can be found at the bottom of this page.

Would you like to comment on the Draft Environmental Vision? If so, you can submit your comments from Friday, June 6, through Monday, July 28, 2025. Please send your email before July 28 to: toekomst@voorschoten.nl. In the subject line, please write: Comments on the Environmental Vision. You may also submit your comments in person. To do so, please make an appointment by calling the Voorschoten municipal office at 14071.
Additional Information Sessions
Two more information sessions will be held on June 17 and July 2. During these sessions, the Draft Voorschoten 2040 Environmental Vision will be explained, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions. The sessions begin at 7:30 p.m. and end around 8:30 p.m., and will take place at the Voorschoten library.

Completed: Finalization and adoption: August–September 2025
The draft environmental vision for public comment and the vision for adoption were submitted to the council.
Completed: Final DesignApproval : October 2025
The Final Draft Environmental Vision was adopted on October 1, 2025
