New Trailer Park Site Along the Korte Vliet

Last updated: November 21, 2025

Until recently, the only mobile home in Voorschoten was located on Leidseweg. It was rented out by the municipality. The new Segaar-Arsenaal residential neighborhood is planned for this site. For this reason, the municipality sought an alternative location. In September 2023, the city council selected the peninsula on the Korte Vliet. On October 7, 2025, two new mobile homes were installed at this location, and they were ready for occupancy two weeks later.

On January 30, 2025, the city council decided that two more mobile homes would be added within two years at the latest. With a total of four sites, the municipality is fulfilling its legal obligation to provide sufficient space for mobile homes in Voorschoten.

De Sleutels Housing Association: Sales, Rentals, and Property Management

In early September 2025, the De Sleutels housing authority and the municipality of Voorschoten signed an agreement regarding the four mobile homes on Korte Vliet. The agreement stipulates that the housing authority will purchase, rent out, and manage the mobile homes. Renting out and managing housing is not a responsibility of the municipality.

Two more mobile homes will be added by the end of 2026. The housing authority will purchase them directly from the supplier. The Municipality of Voorschoten and the housing authority De Sleutels already signed a letter of intent to that effect in January 2025.

Participation in Planting

Before the first two mobile homes arrived, it was necessary to cut down trees to make room. This tree-cutting work was completed in early February 2025, well before the start of the breeding season. The ground at the site was then raised. After that, the ground was “pre-loaded” for a period of time to ensure it had sufficient bearing capacity for the mobile homes.

A new landscaping plan has been drawn up. It was discussed with the future resident of the first mobile home. Local residents, the people who wrote a letter, and the city council itself were invited to contribute their ideas. Other interested parties were also able to sign up. A total of two meetings were organized.

The new trees and plants will be planted in December and January. The same number of trees and plants will be replanted as were removed. The trees and plants are of higher quality. The so-called “canopy volume” will increase. This refers to the total size that the tree canopies will collectively reach. Of course, the trees and plants will need time to grow. A number of trees for which there is no space at the site will be relocated to another spot nearby. This will ensure that walkers have a similar experience. Additional willows and alders will be planted along Hofweg.

Traffic

We’re going to make traffic adjustments, but we can’t do that until the permanent utility lines have been installed and the last two mobile homes have been placed. Otherwise, those traffic adjustments could be damaged.

The access road to the area will be improved. The entrance for cars from Voorschoterweg will be modified. The bike path will be moved slightly so that cyclists and motorists can see each other better. Part of the old bike path will become a private access road with a speed limit of 30 km/h. This is in line with neighborhood living and makes it safer for everyone who walks, cycles, or drives. We can only make these adjustments once the final utility connections have been installed and the last two mobile homes have been placed.

Permit

The permit to place the four mobile homes has been applied for and granted. You can find it onthe official announcements website at. No objections were received.

Planning

On October 16, 2025, the two mobile homes were ready for occupancy. They had been transported to Voorschotenabouttwo weeks earlier. The builder then completed the final touches on site. The mobile homes were also connected to electricity and water. The homes are gas-free and comply with BENG standards. This means they are nearly energy-neutral.

Streetlights were installed during the week of November 11. The fences were put up during the week of November 18.
