New "Vaker in Voorschoten" Welcome Signs

The redesigned signs give residents and visitors a fresh and contemporary first impression upon arrival. As they leave, the signs convey in a friendly way that everyone is always welcome to return.

Positive experience

“These changes are part of the ongoing ‘Vaker in Voorschoten’ village marketing campaign,” explains Alderman De Bruijn. “Through these and other initiatives, we’re creating a recognizable image and a positive experience for both residents and visitors. Since 2024, we’ve been using the slogan ‘Vaker in Voorschoten,’ a nod to Leiden’s ‘Liever in Leiden.’ We’re letting our visitors know that there’s plenty to do in our village and that they should come here more often—from shopping to dining to boating. All our activities and events can also be found at www.vakerinvoorschoten.nl and. After all, everyone is welcome to ‘Vaker in Voorschoten’!”

Dance of Joy

Daniëlle Gerits of Spring Wellness, who is also chair of the Voorschoten Business Association (COV), is delighted with the cheerful photos. “Voorschoten is so much more than the—admittedly wonderful—history that used to be featured on the signs. Our lovely village center has many charming shops, restaurants, and other fun businesses. It’s wonderful to spend a few hours there and then wrap up the day on one of the outdoor patios. Here, the small independent business owners truly do a little dance of joy when you visit them. You’re welcome here—and come to Voorschoten more often!”

Main Access Roads

The signs are located on the main access roads to Voorschoten: on Veurseweg, Voorschoterweg, Leidseweg, and Wijngaardenlaan, and along the Vliet, near the entrance to Molenlaan.
